MMXI - 365 - "Music Lover"

Here's the 2011 Finale:

Yes, a music lover I am (although I only like one country song, "Red Solo Cup"),
and for 2011's 365 Drawing/Posting Project, this is the last post.

This post combines my experience with Illustration and Graphic Design.  This project was done this semester for a graphic design class: pick an organization that serves a beneficial purpose and create a tagline to match it.

The illustration part is done in watercolor neutrals and then digitally colored.  That part is located behind the young musician and between the chalk marks.

The graphic design part consists of the tagline in the bottom right corner which color coordinates with the "Save the Music" logo.  I have the chalkboard background with the chalk showcasing the wonders of music and a young trumpet player blasting away.

I received a high A on this project and it took me less than a week to create.
(2012 will be an any-day-type-of-blog)

MMXI - 363 - "2Faced Purple Man"

I did this today to test a few new markers and the outcome resembles a
cross between DC Comics' 2Face and Marvel Comics' Purple Man; both are villains.

The Caucasian side looks good as far as flesh tones and considering that I only
used about 4 markers.

Just 2 more days until I will be done with this daily project.

MMXI - 357 - "Color Hype Noire"

Alternative Color #2

Alternative Color #1

Digitally colored and extended version of the previous "Hype Noire" drawing. The bottom one is the first version and my favorite, though I will be working on it more to lessen the amount of colors; from 11 or 12 colors down to 4 or 5, maybe.

Imagine if this was a comic book/graphic novel
cover or sneaker indulgence illustration.  It would be very dope indeed!

Critiques are always welcomed and indulged.

MMXI - 356 - "Hype Noire"

Pen & Ink w/ Whiteout

Anyone that knows me, knows that I have a fascination with sneakers and storytelling.  Art deco designed NIKE swoosh with a pants pattern having the kind of story elements that belong in a "noire comic".  I originally was going to name it after a website I used to frequent, hypebeast, but I think "noire" has a better sound to it.  "Noire" can have a reference to crime novels, night, nubian, dark, and black (color or skin complexion). This drawing is one where the viewer can piece together their perspective story from the soles up to the pant waist.

Critiques are welcome and indulged!

MMXI - 355 - "Masked Wildebeest"

So, Monday, I was sketching images of African animals and saw pictures of a herd of Wildebeest.  Each Wildebeest was interesting because I could not figure out the face, each head & face looked like a dark mask.  I may have a future drawing or portion of a comic where the Wildebeests wear masks in my lead character's quest of vigilante identity.
